Simple Ways To Slay 2017

I have come up with 8 simple things you can incorporate into your daily life so that you will slay this year. Some of these are ways to improve your physical well being as well as your mental well being.

1. Drink more water!

It’s been floating around social media that in a day you are supposed to drink half of your weight in ounces, but as I have recently learned in biology class, that is not true, there is no magic number because everyone is different even your day to day is different. Instead of tracking your water intake track the colour of your pee, yeah a little TMI but honestly it’s the only way to tell, the lighter thee pee the better. When you notice your pee is darker (or even bighter yellow) this is your body telling you need more water. Also remember to drink lots when you are working out or when it is hot. When your body is well hydrated your skin is more supple, and can help reduce acne. Drinking a glass of water right when you wake up it increases your metabolism and can help burn more fat. Try cold water or hot lemon water. If you get tired of plain water try adding fruit or you can look up water recipies (these include diffent benefits for your body). Leave a comment and I will do a post on some of my favorite.

2. Staying on a sleep schedual

I cannot tell you how important this is for you. Going to bed and waking up around the same time everyday gets your body into a routine which helps you fall asleep faster and you wake up feeling more refreshed and ready to start the day. If you have an iPhone the alarm app has a sleep section built right in, I personally like my Fitbit, it gives you an alert 15mins before you should be in bed and wakes you up in the morning.

3. Self reflection/self mediatation

This is important especially when your re stress out and have alot of things on your plate. Even 2mins a day can really help you reset. I really looked the app called Breath. You just put how you feel physically and mentally then gives you a personalized meditation, these range anywhere from 2-20 mins. I like keeping the streak so that motivates me to do it every day.

4. Staying oraganized

To stay organized and keep a clean space, do a little everyday. To start from scratch, each day dedicate a specific section of your house, and go though everything wipe it down and possibly add some new storage containers and get rid of anything that is old, worn out or unused. Once you have gone over every section of your house, just maintain it. When things have a proper place and it’s easy to access, your more likely to put things where they belong and that keeps everything clean. There are tons of videos on youtube and posts to give you ideas.

5. Being productive

Stop procrastinating!! I know it’s easier said then done I totally get that, but honestly just start whatever you have to do right away. The longer you wait to start thee task the harder to get modivated to do it. Try using a planner or writing it down, and a reasonable amount of time for each task. Writing everything down and having it front you helps you to visualize everything you have and that way you won’t forget anything. If it seems like you have an overwhelming amount of things to do, split ito smaller tasks, like writing an essay, decide that day one is finding your topic, 3-5 good resources, and maybe write your intro then day two write the first paragraph, then day three the second paragraph, day four the third, day five the conclusion and editing. Obiously this depends on how much you have but split it up.

6. Take time for yourself

This kind of goes with self reflection but I’m talking more about just relaxing. It’s very important to take time fo yourself, once a week ray taking a bath, if baths aren’t your ting try reading a book you like or even watching a movie or tv show. Whatever it is just fond the time to do noting but relax. It will 100% help you in the long run.

7. Eating healthier

An easy way to start improving your diet is to start by switching out one sugary drink a week to water or something with less sugar. If you like pop or soda, try carbonated water. Also reduce your sodium intake, try not putting extra salt on your food and if your really committed get rid of anything in your diet with excess sodium, like chips. Salt can make you dehydrated as well as increase water retention. Eliminating sodium can help reduce bloating. You can lose about 2lbs and make your skin healthier. Another way to improve your diet is by using a smaller plate and taking longer for meals, we have all heard that it takes 20 mins for your brain to send the signal that you are full so follow it.

8. Being in the right midndset

Lastly don’t care what people think, you do you! It doesn’t matter wether your hair or makeup is perfect or if people are judging you for what your like, because at the end of the day it’s your life not theirs and you do what makes you happy. Remember if people are trying to bring you down, it only means that you are above them.
