Who I Admire Most

Good evening, this post is a little different; first because I already posted today, and second I never post at night. I wanted to share something that’s really close to my heart, and something that has been on my mind recently. Recently I have been dong interviews and a question that has come up a quite frequently is “who do you admire most, and why?”. The first time I was asked this, I was trying to think of a singer, Youtuber, or influencer. But then it clicked on who I look up to most.

My biggest inspiration (apart from my mom) has always been my grandma. She was an amazing woman in every possible aspect of her life. I never knew anyone so genuinely kind to anyone and everyone. I’m pretty sure she was incapable of being mean or rude or even judgemental. No matter what your complaint was she would always make you look at the other side. Every time I came home and complained about something a teacher said or did, she would make me consider the teachers point of view. As frustrating as it was for her to take his or her side, it taught me to be more understanding towards others. She was always so positive and can find the good in everything and everyone.

I could always go to her with any problem I had and she would always know how to fix it. She taught me everything form how to knit and crochet to how to be polite and well mannered.

My grandma and my mom always taught me to raise my argument before I raised my voice, and that is something that I have and will continue to carry with me through my life.

As long as I can remember my grandma had always supported my singing. She would listen to me practice for hours on end (even when I still didn’t know what pitch was) and always told me how wonderful and lovely I sounded. I was even lucky enough to spend a couple years singing with her in a choir.

Unfortunately she passed away almost 3 years ago after a courageous battle with cancer but all her advice will remain with me forever. As much as I would give anything for her to still be here with me and see all that I have accomplished I  am ever so grateful for the time I got to spend with her. I know everyone who met her would say the same thing.

I love you so much grandma, happy birthday. I know you are always there watching over me.
