Good morning everyone, if you’re new here, welcome, if you’re not new here then you have probably seen one of my many bullet journal posts. It’s no secret that my go to is my bullet journal, however, I haven’t really shown or talked about how I use it, not to mention that it’s not the only thing I use to stay organized.
I use these when I have a bunch of stuff I need to do, or remember to do later. I start with a continual list, either in a notepad, my iPad or on my laptop. I tend to have multiple list going like school, blog/youtube, personal etc. These running to-do list help me plan out my week which brings me to the next point…
The main attraction, the star of the show. Each day I check my ongoing to-do list and write my daily to do list and anything else I need to remember (like a post that is planned to go live that day). Having a to-do list allows me to write down anything I think of and not have to plan when exactly I’ll do it. There is nothing more annoying then writing the same task in your bullet journal for multiple days in a row because you don’t have time to complete it but you also don’t want to forget about it. I also use my bullet journal for habit trackers, ‘random cool spreads’ and budgeting (though I could do a whole post in itself on budgeting).
I love my google calendar for tasks that are at a set time (class, meeting, events etc) and reoccurring. I have it set up so that everything shows up in iCal (on my apple products) this way I get notifications and can view my calendar on my watch and laptop (without having to open the web page). If you want to learn how to do that you can watch my ipad customization video here (the same steps apply). The other things I use fairly frequently is time blocking, if I know I have a lot to do in a day, I will break up my time for tasks. I will look at my list in my bullet journal, then set approx times it will take me to complete the task, then add those ‘blocks’ in my schedule for the day. I find this usually helps me focus on the task I am currently working becasue I’m not thinking of all the other things I have to do. (It’s also color coordinated!)
I like to put important school dates and events in my life in my monthly calendars so I have an overview for the month. I do this in my bullet journal but mainly on the whiteboard calendar in my room that I got from my school bookstore. The other main reason for this calendar use is content planning, I like to get an idea of what I want to post and when and this is a great visual. I use yellow for events, pink for school and blue for content (on my whiteboard calendar).
Thank you so much for reading, let me know your favourite tool to stay organized. Stay tuned, new vlog this Sunday!
